You may remember a while ago I gave a sneak peak of my mum's patchwork quilt. I helped by sewing the patches together on my sewing machine and then she did the backing, quilting and edging by hand (all the hard bits!) and now it is finished! Think that patchwork is harder than it looks, well done Mum!!

Yummiest Gingerbread Ever!
At my cookery class on Tuesday we made the most lovely Gingerbread. We each got a piece to take home but I knew that I had to make my own one at home and share the recipe.
Recipe is for a 2lb loaf tin. Preheat oven to Gas 4.
50g treacle
50g syrup
100g butter
100g brown sugar
175g plain flour
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 egg
1/4 pint milk
Melt treacle, syrup, butter and sugar.
Mix milk and egg together
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl and add in the wet to make a batter like mixture. Pour into loaf tin and bake for 1hr. You could put icing on top too....mmm.
Here it is! My mum and I had some with a cup of tea and it was so yummy!

Finished Projects!
I'm very excited to be able to share some projects that have been completed in the last few days!
Firstly, some birdies! These were blank wooden birds purchased from ebay. My mum and I then painted them with some tester paints in duck egg and yellow. Mine have silver dots (we used a cork!) and were then strung together with twine to hang up.
My mum wanted hers to hang outside so we gave them a good few coats of varnish and then they were done!
What do you think?!
Next on the list is my round crochet cushion. I'm very pleased with the result (especially as it's my first crochet project!). Its backed with purple fleece and a green leaf cord fabric on the back.
My last little project was inspired by Wood & Wool Stool (google it!). This is a little old milking stool that my Grandma gave me. Its sage green (not a v good pic).
And here it is again but wearing a new cosy cover!

Vintage Ladybird Bunting
My mum and I have had a few little crafty sessions recently (while Leo having his lunchtime nap). Yesterday we did some hanging basket planting, had some soup and managed to finish off our bunting!
I bought this sweet ladybird book on ebay for 99p. It was a bit bashed about so didn't feel too bad chopping it up!
We're pleased with the final result and managed to get 2 sets of bunting from the one book. Mine has gone in the living room and my mum has put hers under a little shelf in her bedroom. We have another little birdie project but its not quite finished. Will post some pics soon.
In other news, my crochet cushion is coming along nicely. I'm only doing one side and will back it with fabric so it will be finished soon!
Off to have a quick cup of tea and have a rest while Leo is still napping!

Cookery Class
Hello everyone! Thanks so much for the comments on my last post!
Today Leo and I went to our cookery group. Leo goes to the creche while I do some cooking with other mummies (and one daddy!). The group is run by a local initiative and is free, it runs for 6 weeks. We split into different groups to make different things and then at the end share what we've all made to take home. The other people are all v nice and friendly.

We made Carrot and Coriander Soup, Chicken and Mushroom Pasties and Oat and Raisin Biscuits mmm.
I am also feeling very pleased with myself as I have mastered the treble stitch in crochet (complete crochet beginner!). I must have looked a bit silly last night as I sat with my earphones in watching a you tube tutorial again and again with my wool and hook in hand! Max didn't seem to notice as he was watching a film!
So here is the first round of what will hopefully be a cushion cover!

Almost up to date.....
Phew! Almost up to date.
Max had a break between temp jobs last week so it was lovely to spend some family time together. We had little trips to The Botanic Gardens, Biggar, North Berwick and a visit to Gorgie City Farm.

Royal Wedding Party
This post is a bit late but wanted to upload some pics from our Royal Wedding Party. We had a lovely day watching the wedding, watching our very own Prince (Leo) and Princess (Isabelle) playing and eating sausage rolls and Marjorie's fantastic chocolate biscuit cake...yum!
Where did April go?!
Oh dear, not blogged for a little while. April was quite busy with family visiting and plenty of little projects here and there.
Leo enjoyed his first Easter and I made a little display. I'm looking forward to these little traditions that we'll do each year now that we're a little family!

I've also managed to spend some time in our little garden and things are coming along nicely. I just love spring flowers.
Leo has also enjoyed going to the park!
